Florida Tech Offers Construction Industry Courses for Credit

– New professional development courses related to the construction industry are available at Florida Tech’s Melbourne campus. They should interest owners,
supervisors, and safety and human resources personnel in construction-related businesses. The courses, which offer continuing education credit by the
Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board, will be held in the Clemente Center for Sports and Recreation.

Held consecutively, on Feb. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon, will be “Workers’ Compensation Insurance” and “Implementing a Drug-Free Workplace Program.”

Held consecutively on March 12, from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., will be “Scaffolding Safety Competent Person” and “Overview of Fall Protection Safety.”

The “OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach Course” will be held May 14-15, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The courses are sponsored by Florida Tech’s Construction Industry Advisory Board (CIAB), a consortium of more than 25 construction companies. A key
component of the CIAB’s mission is to generate excitement among area students about the construction industry and to attract them to the field.
