Florida Tech Offers Camp

– Florida Tech’s Construction Industry Advisory Board (CIAB) is sponsoring a weeklong summer learning experience, “Camp Dream Builders,” June 2-6. The
camp, for students entering the 8th, 9th and 10th grades, meets at Florida Tech and focuses on the construction industry.

The CIAB mission is to generate excitement among area students about the construction industry and to make them aware that the industry offers rewarding,
life-long careers.

The camp cost of $100 includes meals, snacks, and supplies. Twenty campers will be selected on a first come, first served basis.

Several companies and organizations are contributing to funding the camp. They include APAQ, Coastal Mechanical Services, LLC, Health First, Inc., Heard
Construction, Inc., Ivey’s Construction, Kinberg & Bickford, P.A., Mead Construction, Met-Con Inc., NAWIC, and M.H. Williams Construction. Others may
participate.

Campers will participate in laboratory testing of materials, computer-aided bridge and building design, and surveying. In addition, they will learn about
cost estimation, scheduling, and project development. The students also will meet local construction industry leaders and visit construction sites. All
activities are planned to be both fun and educational.
