Fulbright Scholar Publishes on Exchange Scholar Experience

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Zeeshan-ul-hassan Usmani, a Florida Tech doctoral student in computer science from Pakistan, is editor of the just- published book,
Ambassadors of Peace: Experiences of Pakistani and U.S. Exchange Scholars. Among the experiences cited in the book are his own at Florida Tech. From 2004
to 2006, he completed a master’s degree in computer science through the Fulbright Scholars program.
“More than a glimpse into the lives of these shining scholars, it [the book] is a wonderful testament to their seeking of mutual understanding and harmony.
Simply a compelling read,” said Siraj A. Shaikh of United Nations University.
“Ambassadors” contains essays of Fulbright Scholars, post-doctoral researchers and Humphrey Fellows as well as participants of the International Visitor
Leadership Program, Asia Foundation and American Summer Institute. Usmani completed dozens of interviews to compile the diverse cultural and academic
experiences of the students.
“The book provides the rare perspective of observing a country from the student’s point of view. The sketches describe a variety of exchange experiences
and will be of interest to anyone interested in international culture and diversity,” said Usmani.
Usmani earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science in 1998 from Shah Abdul Latif University in Khairpur, Pakistan, and a master’s in information
technology from Preston Institute of Management Science and Technology in Karachi in 2002.
