F.I.T. Aviation Discovery Flights Available to Community

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology students in any field may get a bird’s-eye view of the wild blue yonder and a feel for what it might be like to be a pilot for free. They can sign up for a discovery flight with a certified F.I.T. Aviation, LLC instructor in a two-seat, glass cockpit, brand new Remos-GX aircraft, which will take them for a 30-minute overview of Brevard County. Anyone outside the university may sign up for the same experience for $49.

Steve Nesbitt of F.I.T. Aviation, said, “We experience take-off and landing, view the campus and the beach from above and go over some fundamentals of maneuvering an airplane. Our goal is to get as many people as possible to experience the joy of flying an aircraft.”

F.I.T. Aviation is the university’s flight training arm. The organization also offers external aviation training. A minimum of 20 hours of training enables a student to be eligible to take a check ride on the way to earning an FAA sport pilot certificate.
