Women’s Business Center Celebrates Good Year

MELBOURNE, FLA. —The Florida Institute of Technology Women’s Business Center held a celebration event in November for completing a successful year. The festivities, held at the WBC’s annual board meeting, featured guest speaker Debbie Harvey, Ron Jon CEO, who addressed the group on her path to success.

Two WBC clients also spoke about what the center had done for their businesses. They were Elizabeth Hood of Facet Project Management and Deborah Heystek of Khaya-Africa LLC.

“We had an exceptionally good year,” said Donn Miller-Kermani, Ph.D., the WBC director. “We exceeded our goals by 27 percent for training and 25 percent for counseling, for one thing.”

The WBC also participated in several partnerships over the year. These include activities with the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, Parrish Medical Center, Indian River State College Small Business Development Center and Congressman Bill Posey’s Entrepreneurial Summit. Additionally, the WBC received grants from State Farm Insurance for the Make Your Mark on Your Neighborhood Financial Literacy Program and from LEAD Brevard through Service Leadership Brevard.
