Foosaner Art Museum’s Museum Monday Features Christopher Maslow, Jan. 23, 2012

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Foosaner Art Museum’s Museum Monday Jan. 23, 2012, at 10 a.m., features Melbourne Beach native and former Los Angeles resident Christopher Maslow whose recent work includes fine art commissions and large scale murals for both public and private ventures. He will talk about his work and give a painting demonstration.

Maslow began as a street artist with a love of graffiti art.He moved to Los Angeles where he began receiving commissions to create large-scale murals and also attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. In 2009 Maslow returned to Melbourne, opening Slow Gallery X Fashion Boutique where he showcased his clothing line and artwork. With commissions for his art on a major upswing, Maslow closed the boutique to focus on his art from a new gallery space at 1008 E. Strawbridge Ave.

Still Motion, a solo exhibition at the Art Gallery of Viera in fall 2011, featured artwork of native Florida wildlife as well as several Brevard Zoo celebrities—all painted in the artist’s exploding acrylic style.Currently, Maslow is working on a “Gateway” mural located on the south side of the Eau Gallie Square Pavilion, one of several murals commissioned by the Eau Gallie Arts District (EGAD).

Museum Monday is a community outreach program that focuses on art and creativity in various forms. Sponsored by the Guild of the Foosaner Art Museum, the free programs are held in the Museum Galleries at 10 a.m. on the third Monday, January through May. Light refreshments are served.
