Student Flies High with Military Scholarship

MELBOURNE, FLA. – The Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) recently awarded Florida Institute of Technology student Ellen Leahy the $1,000 CCME Spouse Scholarship. The CCME offers the Joe King Scholarship, the Spouse Scholarship and the Veteran Scholarship. Each award is given to only five recipients out of the numbers that apply for each one.

Leahy, the spouse of a seven-year Air Force pilot, is an online graduate student working on her master’s in human factors in the College of Aeronautics. With one semester left, she plans to graduate in May. Also a pilot, she currently flies a corporate airplane out of Atlanta, Ga., where she and her husband reside.

The CCME symposium, where the recipients will be honored, will be held on Feb. 25, 2013 in San Diego, Calif. An active proponent for the professional development of those serving in the military education community, CCME’s mission is to provide a forum for the exchange of information on educational programs.
