Security Policies Made Simple
MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Harris Institute for Assured Information at Florida Institute of Technology and the Space Coast Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) present a monthly lecture series on security trends and topics. This month’s meeting, which is free and open to the public, is Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the third-floor conference room of the Harris Center for Science and Engineering building on the Florida Tech campus.
The Institute hosts Ronda Henning, senior scientist for Security Technologies at Harris Corp.. Her topic is “Security Policies Made Simple,” a discussion of how any computer user can define a security policy that is enforceable and understandable for their computer systems and Internet connections. “Most people think security policies are too technical and difficult to implement,” she said. “In reality, security policies from the physical world apply in cyberspace as well.”
A 30-year security practitioner,vHenning has spent her entire career understanding security for information systems. In her role as senior scientist for Information Security at Harris, Henning has been responsible for system security architectures, implementations and operations for major DoD and civil computer systems and mission critical networks. She holds three patents on system vulnerability visualization, and has worked extensively in secure system development processes and countermeasures. Her current work involves human-machine cognitive interaction.
