Florida Tech’s Foosaner Art Museum Seeks New Volunteers

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Foosaner Art Museum of Florida Institute of Technology currently seeks volunteers to support daily operations of the museum by staffing the reception desk, the Museum Shop and the Renee Foosaner Education Center.

“During non-peak times for visitors, the Foosaner Art Museum provides a quiet work environment and inspires creativity for students looking for a volunteer opportunity conducive to their academic schedule,” said Tina Murray, manager of visitor services. People of any age and students, 16-years-and older, interested in community service hours for class requirements and scholarships are encouraged to apply.

Museum volunteerism can lead to regular employment. Working at a museum can help sharpen customer service skills and provide networking opportunities through contact with patrons, fellow volunteers and museum administrators. Job searching aside, studies show that volunteering leads to greater life satisfaction and better mental and physical health.
An annual New Volunteer Reception will be held Monday, Sept. 23, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the galleries. This is an opportunity to introduce new “Friends of Foosaner” to dedicated volunteers.

Call or email Tina Murray at (321) 674-8919 or tmurray@fit.edufor more information on volunteer opportunities.

The Foosaner Art Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children and students with ID and free on Thursdays and always for Florida Tech faculty, staff and students with their ID.
