WFIT Fund Drive in New Broadcast Center Starts Oct. 4

MELBOURNE, FLA.—WFIT 89.5 FM, a service of Florida Institute of Technology, will begin its 2013 Fall Fund Drive Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 a.m. and continue until Sunday, Oct. 13. As a National Public Radio (NPR) station, WFIT is tasked with grassroots fundraising for general program support. Donations and gifts are tax-deductible.

Since its inception in April 1975 as a student-run college radio station, WFIT has evolved steadily into its dramatically expanded role as a major community asset. WFIT serves the public through exceptional music and news programming and encourages an interest in and appreciation of the arts.

The station offers a culturally diverse mix of 24 music shows including jazz, reggae, blues, classical, folk, rock, Latin and high-tech. A multitude of interviews and special interest shows provide the community with information about unique cultural topics and events. As an NPR affiliate, WFIT broadcasts shows such as “Morning Edition,” “All Things Considered” and “Weekend Edition.”

During the drive, supporters will be encouraged to become Sustaining Members whose pledges will be automatically deducted from their account every month. With pledges starting at $5 per month, this is a convenient method to support WFIT.

The Fall Fund Drive will be held in the 6,500-square-foot Broadcast Center on University Boulevard, which was just completed last fall. The center provides a quality showcase for concerts, live studio interviews and performances, recording, production, tours and conferencing capabilities.

WFIT will also debut its new retro-designed t-shirt courtesy of ArtLab T-Shirts & Graphics in Palm Bay. In addition, for a donation of $100, donors will receive a customized six-pack of WFIT Octoberfund Kolsch Beer from Brock’s Home Brew in West Melbourne.

Stay tuned to WFIT 89.5 FM for Fall Fund Drive updates. You can also log onto www.wfit.org for updates, live streaming and secure online donations. WFIT can be reached at (321) 674-8950.
