Florida Tech Engineering Dean Earns IEEE Lifetime Fellowship

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Fredric Ham, dean of the Florida Institute of Technology College of Engineering and Harris Professor of Electrical Engineering, has been elevated to Lifetime Fellow in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is recognized for his achievements in technology and his significant impact on the growth and development of the organization.

Life Fellow membership is “reserved for those individuals who have been part of the IEEE community for a sustained period of time.” Lifetime Fellows serve in leadership roles at all organizational levels, as key organizers and participants in local meetings and assist in developing standards for the organization.

Hamisthe past presidentof the International Neural Network Society (INNS); a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Xi; and he is also a Fellow of both SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, and INNS.Hehaswrittenmore than 100 technical publications, holds three patents, and authored the textbook,Principles of Neurocomputing for Science and Engineering.
