Alex Rudloff to Speak at Inaugural Startup Weekend Space Coast Nov. 15 in Melbourne
MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology’s Nathan M. Bisk College of Business announces it will host the inaugural event of Startup Weekend Space Coast Nov. 15, starting with registration at 6:30 p.m. The event, a draw for entrepreneurs, will take place at Florida Tech’s Center for Aeronautics and Innovation at 1050 West NASA Blvd. in Melbourne.
The keynote speaker is Alex Rudloff, CEO and co-founder of Emursel.com, Twitterholic.com and Atqui.com. Florida Tech and TrepHub, a local business incubator, are collaborating to put on the event.
At the event, participants will be given a set time to make a business-idea pitch, will break into groups and share ideas. The groups will be allowed 54 hours to build a prototype and pitch it to judges, investors and the community the following Sunday evening, Nov. 17, at Florida Tech’s Center for Aeronautics and Innovation at 1050 West NASA Blvd. in Melbourne.
Anyone may pitch an idea on Nov. 15 and receive feedback from their peers. This includes entrepreneurs who have founded companies or seek a cofounder, or who would like to meet a new business associate or learn a skill outside the realm of their usual job. “Each participant will leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups,” said Abram Walton, associate professor of management and innovation at Florida Tech.
