Lifelong Scholar Society Presents Former Astronaut Winston Scott’s Experiences in Space

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Join former astronaut, Captain Winston Scott, as he compares Hollywood’s depiction of space travel, in such recent movies as Gravity, with his own experiences in space Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. His lecture is the first of the year in the Florida Institute of Technology Lifelong Scholar Society lecture series. Scott served as a mission specialist for two U.S. space shuttle missions and conducted three space walks.

A retired Navy captain, Scott is Florida Tech’s senior vice president of external relations and economic development, and a frequent community speaker.

The lecture will be held at the Harris Community Auditorium, next door to the Foosaner Art Museum in downtown Eau Gallie.

Tickets for each lecture are $20; $10 for members. The Lifelong Scholar Society is now offering a yearly membership for $35, which includes half priced tickets to lectures, three dinners at Panther Dining, and a custom name tag. Tickets include a slice of freshly baked pie from Joan’s Perfect Pies located in downtown Eau Gallie at each lecture; refreshments will be served during the 30-minute Q & A discussion segment.
