Foosaner Art Museum Seeking Docents

Seven-week Training Session Starts Feb. 23

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology’s Foosaner Art Museum is seeking new docents to interact with museum visitors and conduct tours for adults and children. Docents, whether by facilitating an engaging museum experience or by stimulating a dialogue with patrons, are the museum’s diplomatic ambassadors of knowledge.

Training will begin Feb. 23 at the museum in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne.

Interested candidates should enjoy interacting with a variety of people and learning about art, culture and history. Previous experience is not required, but a love of art and excellent communication skills are necessary. Curiosity and a sense of humor are welcome.

Docents are required to become museum members and to volunteer a minimum of four hours each month.

Docent candidates will participate in an intensive, seven-week training program that focuses on visitor interaction and tour techniques. Docents receive ongoing education with each exhibition and are encouraged to attend museum lectures and gallery talks.

To learn more about the docent program, contact Jackie Borsanyi at jborsanyi@fit.edu or 321-674-8920.
