Foosaner Art Museum to Benefit from June 4 Dancing Event

Florida Tech’s Bino Campanini Serving as Celebrity Dancer

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology’s Foosaner Art Museum has been named one of three non-profit recipients for the annual “Dancing for the Space Coast” fundraiser hosted by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Bino Campanini, Florida Tech’s vice president of alumni affairs, will serve as one of 13 local “celebrities” dancing in the competition June 4 at the university’s Clemente Center. He will be paired with a professional dancer who will help instruct him ahead of the event.

Campanini will also work diligently to raise money for the three featured non-profits.

“My goal is to raise $40,000 and I hope that all my friends in the community will want to see me on the dance floor and join me in supporting this worthy cause,” he said.

Each year, charities are selected from three categories that center on benefitting children, preventing crime and fostering the arts. In addition to the Foosaner, the June 4 event at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center will also benefit AMIKids and Sally’s House-Circles of Care.

And 10 percent of the event’s proceeds will go directly to support the Brevard County Public Safety Charity that stands ready to assist law enforcement officers and fire fighter/paramedics throughout Brevard County in their times of need.

Last year’s “Dancing for the Space Coast” raised $200,000.

Each dance couple will compete in a choreographed ballroom dance that will be scored by judges. Campanini and the other celebrity dancers will be judged not only on their skills but also on how much money is raised for the three charities.

“I hope you will join us as we enjoy great food, laughter, friends and incredible dancing, all while doing great things to support our community,” Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.

Donations can be made in the name of each dancer and mailed directly to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Charity at 700 S. Park Avenue, Titusville, FL, 32780, or by visiting the event website. Tickets and tables can also be credited to the dancer’s total.
