MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Fifth Annual French Film Festival at and around Florida Institute of Technology’s Foosaner Art Museum kicks off Friday, April 7, with a free, outdoor presentation of the Oscar-winning short film Le Balloon Rouge (The Red Balloon).

Albert Lamorisse’s 1956 classic, a nearly dialogue-free film showing a young boy’s adventures after he finds and befriends a bright red balloon, begins at 8:30 p.m. at Eau Gallie Square on the corner of Highland Avenue and westbound Eau Gallie Boulevard. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets.

April 7 will also feature April in Paris, the festival’s outdoor celebration of French culture and cuisine. Starting at 5:30 p.m., guests may enjoy live music, petanque, French vendors and art activities.
