F.I.T. Aviation Honored by FAA with Award for Dedication to Safety, Education

Florida Tech-based Operation One
of Four in Florida Awarded

MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Federal Aviation Administration has recognized F.I.T. Aviation LLC’s maintenance shop and aviation maintenance technicians with the William (Bill) O’Brien Diamond AMT Employer Award, the agency’s highest honor given to aviation organizations that employ FAA-certified mechanics.

The award is presented as recognition of the dedication to safety demonstrated by F.I.T. Aviation in committing the time and funding to provide its 19 AMTs with training and professional development that help strengthen safety.

F.I.T. Aviation is one of just four Florida recipients of the Diamond Award in 2017.

“F.I.T. Aviation works to ensure our technicians have the latest training and education to help ensure they can work to the highest levels of performance and safety,” said Isaac Silver, assistant dean of flight operations at F.I.T. Aviation. “We are honored and thankful that their hard work and dedication have been recognized by the FAA.”

Silver said the award – the sixth consecutive Diamond Award for F.I.T. Aviation – would not have been possible without the support and guidance of Director of Maintenance Rod Kern and Senior Mechanic Felix Fernandez.
