Chronicle of Higher Ed: Florida Tech Among Fastest Growing Universities
MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology was recently ranked among the 20 fastest-growing private, nonprofit doctoral institutions in the United States by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
In its annual Almanac 2018-19 edition Aug. 24, the respected publication said Florida Tech’s 36 percent enrollment growth between fall 2006 and fall 2016 was 16th most in the nation, ahead of Carnegie Mellon, Columbia University and others. The average growth for 116 institutions examined to create the list was just under 16 percent.
Using U.S. Department of Education data based on the number of full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students at the Melbourne campus as well as at extended studies locations, the Chronicle reported that enrollment at Florida Tech grew from 4,741 to 6,451 over that time.
