Florida Tech Presents Lecture with Buddhist Perspective

– As part of its Humanities Lecture Series, Florida Tech presents “Media, Attention and the Colonization of Consciousness: A Buddhist Perspective.” The
presentation is on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in the F.W. Olin Engineering Complex ground floor auditorium on University Blvd. It is open to the general public at
no cost.

The Lecturer, Dr. Peter Hershock, is a project fellow and coordinator of summer and outreach programs of the Asian Studies Development Program at the
East-West Center of the University of Hawaii. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a doctoral degree from the University of Hawaii. His
publications include Liberating Intimacy: Enlightenment and Social Virtuosity in Ch’an Buddhism and Reinventing the Wheel: A Buddhist Response to the
Information Age. Forthcoming are an edited volume titled “Technology and Cultural Values on the Edge of the Third Millennium” and a monograph titled “Chan
Buddhism: A Chinese Transformation of the Middle Way.”
