Florida Tech To Host Applied Computing Symposium

– Florida Tech will draw applied computing professionals from around the world when it hosts the Eighteenth Annual ACM (Association for Computing
Machinery) Symposium on Computing, March 9-12. The conference technical sessions will take place at the Holiday Ocean Front in Indialantic; the tutorials
will be held on the university campus.

The local conference chair is Dr. Ronaldo Menezes, computer sciences assistant professor. He will also chair a technical session, as will Florida Tech
adjunct faculty member Matt Mahoney. Technical session topics include data mining, bioinformaics, information retrieval and access, E-commerce, computer
applications in health care, and artificial intelligence and computational logic.

Tutorials include semantic Web and ontologies; wireless/mobile network security; resource and mobility management in next generation wireless systems; and
complex event processing in distributed enterprise systems.
