Student Design Day to Showcase Engineering Marvels

– Florida Institute of Technology engineering students will showcase the results of junior and senior design projects at the Student Design Day Trade Show
on Friday, April 25, 2003 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Clemente Center.

The trade show will feature nearly 40 separate efforts, including several large-scale senior design initiatives. These interdisciplinary projects teach
students to work as teams of engineers with different skill sets, a must in today’s high-tech economy.

Featured projects include a full-scale, 17-and-half-foot rocket, the Florida Tech formula race car, the mini-Baja dune buggy, an autonomous robot named
ART, a voice controlled automobile, Fanwing, a heavy-lifting airplane, and the regional champion concrete canoe, Terminal Velocity. In addition,
representatives from local professional sponsors will be on hand.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Ken Ports at 674-7556. The Clemente Center is located on University Blvd. near
Babcock St.
