Aviation Professional Named George M. Skurla Award Winner

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Diego Rincon, a 1992 graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology College of Aeronautics, received this year’s George M. Skurla
Outstanding Alumni Award at the 2008 Homecoming Celebration Dinner on Oct. 18. Rincon, who earned a bachelor’s degree in aviation management, is president
of RinconAviation Consultancy.

Most recently, he was responsible for the planning, design and construction of an airport infrastructure at Mumbai International Airport Limited in India.
He managed an organization of approximately 170 professionals in a $2.5 billion project that included two new terminals, a new airfield system, new air
traffic control tower, cargo facilities development, and airport and airspace capacity improvement initiatives.

He has been involved in projects with the Federal Aviation Administration, Saudi Arabian Aviation Authority, Berliner Flughafen in Germany, San Antonio
International Airport and Ferihegy Airport in Budapest, Hungary.

From 2000 to 2005, he was a lead program planner at Dulles International Airport. He led a team of architects, engineers and program managers in managing
the Capital Development Program at the airport.

Instituted in 1996, the George M. Skurla Outstanding Alumni Award honors a Florida Tech alumnus with a degree in aeronautics or aerospace engineering, and
at least ten years of experience in the field. In addition, the recipient must possess a demonstrated commitment and an exemplary record in advancing the
aviation and aerospace industry.

George M. Skurla, for whom the award is named, was a retired chairman and president of Grumman Aerospace Corporation as well as a Florida Tech trustee and
benefactor. He passed away in late 2001.
