Watch Golf Balls Drop from Sky at Sporting Affair’s Chopper Dropper March 19

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Tickets are now available for the Florida Institute of Technology Sporting Affair’s annual Chopper Dropper, which will take place March 19 at the Suntree Country Club. The event, part of Sporting Affair XVIII, raises money for Florida Institute of Technology athlete scholars.

Exactly 2,000 numbered golf balls will be loaded into a helicopter and dropped near the Suntree Country Club clubhouse. The ball that lands closest to the pin/flag wins $25,000. Each golf ball sponsor of $50 has a chance at the prizes and may attend the 5:30 p.m. cocktail reception, which includes beer and wine. One person, per ticket, may attend the reception. All may gather around to watch the action.

There are 12 additional cash prizes. The ball landing second closest to the pin wins $10,000; third closest wins $5,000. Also, 10 runner-up prizes of $1,000 each will be awarded, for a grand total of $50,000 to be given away. All proceeds from the event support athletics scholarships for deserving Florida Tech student athletes.

Sporting Affair XVIII also includes a sold out golf tournament with a $1 Million Hole-in-One Shootout and a women’s round-robin tennis tournament. The tennis tournament costs $50 and includes tournament entry fee for one, Florida Tech visor, food, mimosas and Margaritas.

“Sporting Affair offers some exciting, fun events for the community and is our biggest fund raiser for athletic scholarships. The money it raises makes a very big difference in our ability to provide athletics scholarships to deserving students,” said John Thomas, director of athletic partnerships.
