Dean on Trumpet Leads Jazz Friday at Brevard Art Museum May 20

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Former astronaut Winston Scott on trumpet, dean of the Florida Institute of Technology, will lead the combo on Jazz Friday, May 20, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Brevard Art Museum. The performance will take place in the museum galleries. Scott is also a member of the Florida Tech all-faculty band TWITCHY.

Also in the combo are Ron Pirtle, bass; Ron Teixeira, piano; and Chuck Dickey, drums. The three are well-known local musicians who may be heard regularly across the Space Coast. The combo will play a variety of classical and contemporary jazz styles that, said Scott, “are sure to please the jazz aficionado.”

The music is free to museum members and $10 for non-members. The monthly Jazz Friday is sponsored in part by WFIT 89.5-FM and AT&T Real Yellow Pages.

The museum is located at 1463 Highland Avenue in Melbourne. For more information, call (321) 242-0737.
