MELBOURNE, FLA. –The Foosaner Art Museum, Florida Institute of Technology, will present a Clay Printmaking Workshop with Mitch Lyons Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Renee Foosaner Education Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Students will learn how to makeclay monoprintsby adding colored clay slips, colored clays, handmade pastels, textures, stencils and slip trailing to a wet slab of clay. Lyons will demonstrate his unique printing process in the morning. During lunch he will show two seven-minuteDVDs to further emphasize the process. After lunch students will make clayprintsusing the above techniques.

Lyons, who earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degreeinprintmaking from the University of the Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics from Tyler School of Art, began to explore the idea of printing with clay in 1968. He is collected in several museums, such as the Brooklyn Museum of Art,NoyseMuseum, West Bend Museum and many private andcooperativecollections. Over the past 10 years he has taught over 100 workshops all over the world.
