Florida Tech Names Area Businessman, Entrepreneur Travis Proctor to Board of Trustees

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Travis Proctor, president of Artemis—The IT Department, was named a new member of the Florida Institute of Technology Board of trustees at a recent board meeting. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science information systems from the university in 1998, graduating first in his class.

Proctor founded Artemis in 1995, while a sophomore at Florida Tech. The company employs 34 people and provides IT department services to clients throughout Central Florida region from its offices in Melbourne. Always an entrepreneur, Proctor co-founded his first company, a computer support business, while a high school junior in his home community of Montrose, Col.

An active member of the community, Proctor serves on several community and company boards. He is board member and past chair of the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce; board member and chairman, Brevard Achievement Center; board member and treasurer, Brevard Symphony Orchestra; board member, Cocoa Beach Area Chamber – Better Business Development Council; board member and president, Brevard Heart Foundation; chairman, Florida Tech Sporting Affair; board member, Business Voice of East Central Florida; board member, EDC; and board member, MyRegion.Org. Proctor is also a past board member and chairman of The Founders Forum and a past board member of the Brevard Workforce Development Board.

Recipient of community honors, Proctor’s firm has been selected as Melbourne-Palm Bay Chamber Small Business of the Year and Cocoa Beach Area Chamber Business of the Year. Proctor has been honored as one of Brevard’s top four emerging leaders under 40; a Space Coast Economic Development Council “Super Hero of Industry;” and the first inductee of the Montrose High School Hall of Fame. He also earned a Florida Tech Alumni Association Gold Award.
