Florida Tech Business Student Team Wins Case Competition at Florida Southern College

MELBOURNE, FLA.—A team of five Florida Institute of Technology business students took first place in the Intercollegiate Case Competition in Strategic Management, held March 30-31 at Florida Southern College, Lakeland. The students attend the Nathan M. Bisk College of Business. Their adviser was H.L. Singer, adjunct faculty member and instructor of Business Strategy and Policy, and Production/Operations Management.

The teams’ challenge was to develop a fully integrated marketing plan to increase orange juice consumption among college students; the problem was put forth by the Florida Citrus Commission, which represents the citrus growers of Florida. Teams were given 24 hours to conduct their analyses and prepare recommendations for action. After analysis and discussion, each team had 20 minutes to present their findings to a panel of judges, followed by five minutes for judges’ questions.

Also participating were teams from Eckerd College, Florida Sothern College and Stetson University.
