Florida Tech Information Assurance Meeting Oct. 18: What Keeps Security Leaders Up at Night

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Harris Institute for Assured Information at Florida Institute of Technology and the Space Coast Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) present a monthly lecture series on security trends and topics. This month’s meeting, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the third-floor conference room of the Harris Center for Science and Engineering building on the Florida Tech campus.

The Institute hosts Alex Hernandez, strategic sales engineer for the Southeast, Barracuda Networks, who will dive into the details that every enterprise should know about the most recent trends involving information security. Hernandez will present an overview of trends, from maltrace and Web 2.0 security to terminating Botnet connectivity and how enterprises can effectively combat modern threats with smart and manageable firewall solutions. A recognized authority on Internet security, Hernandez has worked with numerous Fortune 500 companies to design and implement security solutions to protect their data networks and users.

Hernandez joined Barracuda Networks in October 2009 in conjunction with the company’s acquisition of Purewire, a leader in Web security software-as-a-service solutions. At Purewire, Hernandez managed the sales engineering organization, growing the company from pre-customer/pre-cash to its successful acquisition and integration by Barracuda Networks.

Hernandez has a long history of work expertise in security, with a focus on email, Web, application and network security. A recognized authority on Internet security, he has worked with numerous Fortune 500 companies to design and implement security solutions to protect their data, networks and users. He has presented at various industry conferences including Interop and RSA.
