Florida Tech Chefs Wins Bronze at International Conference

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Chefs Jon Skoviera, Scott Cooper, Jennifer Manaseri and Cynthia Tony, of Florida Institute of Technology, brought back a bronze medal from the International Taste of the World Chef Culinary Conference. The American Culinary Federation-sanctioned event was held recently at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

The Florida Tech chefs and teams from Harvard University, Villanova University, Penn State University and Virginia Tech, among others, were tasked with creating a four-course menu in three hours, preparing dishes from a pre-set mystery basket of items.

Teams were critiqued on several factors. These included how the team worked together, cleanliness, knife skills, flavor and appearance.

“It felt great to win,” said Skoviera who has competed several times and brought back Florida Tech’s seventh award. “They purposely push our limits of what’s possible.”
