Sara Petrosky Is First Foosaner Art Museum Curator of Education

MELBOURNE, FLA. – Sara Petrosky has begun work as the first curator of education at Florida Institute of Technology’s Foosaner Art Museum. She is responsible for assisting the director of University Museums Carla Funk in rebranding and revitalizing the Renee Foosaner Education Center.

Petrosky’s job covers customer relations, networking with local artists, and overseeing and developing art education programs. This includes a year-round course schedule and fine arts workshops for children and adults, assisting the curator of exhibitions with gallery-related educational programs, and generating social media communication regarding educational programs.

A Brevard County native and graduate of Melbourne High School, Petrosky earned her B.A. degree in art and religious studies at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.,where she worked as an intern at the Dali Museum. From 2005 to 2011, she was manager and designer at Thallo Design of Melbourne and, most recently, she worked in customer relations and visual merchandising for the Green Turtle Market.

“Along with her design background and fine arts training, Sara brings skills and experience in project development and management, customer relations, volunteer management and social media marketing. I know she will be a great addition to Florida Tech’s University Museums team,” said Funk.

The Foosaner Art Museum is located at 1463 Highland Ave. in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne. Its hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Sunday 1-5 p.m. General admission is $5; $2, seniors, children and students with I.D.; free for museum members, Florida Tech faculty, staff and students with I.D. Thursdays are free for everyone.
