Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts Begins Spring Docent Training April 22

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology’s Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts announces its 2013 Docent Training Program. The program begins Monday, April 22, at 9:30 a.m. in the Funk Center’s second-floor mezzanine; it continues Mondays, 9:30 a.m. to noon, through June 17 (with the exception of Memorial Day).

Anyone with an interest in the arts, who would like to learn more about textiles and enjoys working with the public can become an advocate for cultural enrichment by becoming a docent at the center. The training program will present an intimate look into the world of fiber arts through unique demonstrations and lectures.

The docent application and additional information about the program are available online at http://textiles.fit.edu or by contacting the Ruth Funk Center at (321) 674-8313 or textiles@fit.edu.
Volunteers are also needed to greet visitors and answer the phone at the center’s reception desk.
Regular hours for the Ruth Funk Center are Tuesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, from noon to 4 p.m.

The Center is located next to Evans Library on the Florida Tech campus in Melbourne at 150 W. University Blvd. Admission is free. The current exhibit ReDress: Upcycled Style by Nancy Judd continues through April 27.
