Textile Center Presents Contemporary Fiber Arts Exhibition Featuring International Artists, May 18-Aug. 24

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts is pleased to host Studio Art Quilt Associates’ (SAQA) newest fiber art show: Masters 2. The traveling exhibit will be on view at the Funk Center, May 18-Aug. 24.

The artworks featured in Masters 2 encompass a broad range of fiber art techniques and styles, from realistic to abstract. The 37 quilt artists in the exhibition have proved themselves masters of this exciting art form and hail from all over the globe. The subject matter varies from a study of Miles Davis intent on blowing his horn to an homage to New York City’s wrought iron tree gates.

Masters, the predecessor exhibition of Masters 2, traveled around the United States and received rave reviews. “Masters 2 is sure to provide a provocative and stimulating museum experience for both art and quilt lovers alike,” said Carla Funk, Florida Tech director of University Museums.

Martha Sielman, executive director of Studio Art Quilt Associates, will give a free gallery talk on opening day, Saturday, May 18 at 1 p.m.

Regular hours for the Funk Center are Tuesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, from noon to 4 p.m. The Center is located on the Florida Tech campus in Melbourne at 150 W. University Blvd. Admission is free. For more information, visit http://textiles.fit.edu, or call (321) 674-8313.
