Students Receive Financial Executives International Scholarships
MELBOURNE, FLA.—Three Florida Institute of Technology Nathan M. Bisk College of Business students were honored at the April 11 Financial Executives International (FEI) Academic Night held in Orlando, Fla. Undergraduates Jennifer Harvey and Brock Bontrager both earned scholarships and graduate student Clem Healy received an FEI Distinguished Scholar Program award. The evening gave students the opportunity to network with Central Florida executives and discuss important issues in finance and accounting.
Harvey, a junior majoring in accounting, currently boasts a 4.0 grade point average. Before coming to Florida Tech, she was owner and CEO of a Melbourne contracting firm and a charter member of the National Association of Women in Construction Space Coast Chapter. There, she served two terms on the board of directors. She also received the Larry Davis Scholarship from Florida Tech. Her career goal is to combine forensic accounting with a focus on corporate sustainability.
A double major in accounting and marketing, senior Bontrager entered Florida Tech on a baseball scholarship. Named the 2011-2012 Outstanding Junior in Business Administration and Marketing, he also was elected to the Florida Tech Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the last two years. A servant of the community, he has volunteered at Relay for Life and Daily Bread in Melbourne. He will intern at a Gainesville firm this summer.
Healy will receive his master’s degree in business administration in May. The founder and brew master of Inner Circle Brewery in West Melbourne, Fla., Healy has also recently joined the Modus Operandi team, a local software development company. His business goals include becoming a chief financial officer or an account executive in a government contract firm.
