Kenny Clarke Performs for Jazz Friday at Foosaner Art Museum June 7 Free at First Friday Art Walk

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Foosaner Art Museum, Florida Institute of Technology, presents organist Kenny Clarke, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 7. The free concert will be held during the Eau Gallie Arts District’s (EGAD) First Friday Art Walk.

Jazz Friday at the Foosaner Art Museum allows visitors to listen to live jazz as they view the current exhibitions for free. The exhibition on display will be “Pressing Print: Universal Limited Art Editions 2000-2010” through Aug. 4. See more about these works at http://www.foosanerartmuseum.org.

Clarke, winner of Brevard Live Music Award for “Favorite Keyboardist” in 2007 and 2009, has formed a trio that brings to the area a sound known as “hard bop.” The “Kenny Clarke Trio Featuring Michael Leasure” includes Jeff LoPorte on drums, Clarke on the Hammond B3 organ and Leasure on guitar. Clarke is a fixture at Brevard jazz clubs and also teaches in the area.

The Renee Foosaner Education Center, part of the museum, participates in EGAD’s First Friday Art Walk, which is held every first Friday of each month. Hands-on activities will be available, too.

The Foosaner Art Museum is located at 1463 Highland Ave. in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne. For more information, call Tina Murray at (321) 674-8919.
