Open House at Florida Tech’s Newly Renovated Link Building Is Part of Homecoming 2013 on Oct. 25
MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Link Building on the campus of Florida Institute of Technology, home to several College of Engineering departments and programs, will hold an Open House Friday, Oct. 25, 2-4 p.m. The event is open to the public.
The three-story building, which underwent major renovation over the last year and a half, houses the Department of Marine and Environmental Systems (DMES), Construction Management program and the relatively new department, Biomedical Engineering.
Laboratories, such as the new laboratories of Biomedical Engineering, will be open to visitors as well as exhibits. These include the Mitchel Mark nautical artifact collection as well as displays of student and faculty projects from DMES programs in Ocean Engineering, Oceanography, Meteorology, Environmental Science, and Earth Remote Sensing, and projects in Construction Management. Light refreshments will be served.
The Link Building is named for Edwin A. Link inventor of the Link Trainer and co-founder of the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution. A display of an original Link Trainer can be seen in the College of Aeronautics’ Skurla Hall, a two-minute walk from the Link Building.
The Link Building is most easily reached form the Babcock Street parking lot. Park in the spaces reserved for the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts and walk westward across the covered wooden bridge to the Evans Library. The Link Building is the next building south of the library. And while visiting Florida Tech, enjoy a stroll through the Botanical Gardens and visit the Ruth Funk Center.
