Florida Tech’s Scott Center, Nemours Children’s Health System Present Panel Discussion on Developments in Autism

Free event June 12 at Citrus Club in Orlando

MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Scott Center for Autism Treatment at Florida Institute of Technology and Nemours Children’s Health System are partnering to present a free panel discussion June 12 in Orlando. The panel will present recent developments in autism.

Featuring Michael Kelley and Ivy Chong from the Scott Center and clinical pyschologist Leslie Gavin and neurologist Yr Sigurdardottir from Nemours, the panel will touch on topics including best practices, the latest treatment techniques and available resources.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with Nemours to present the latest data and resources for autism treatment,” said Colleen Middlebrooks, the Scott Center’s director of community relations. “With the latest Centers for Disease Control statistics showing 1 in 68 children in the U.S. are being diagnosed with autism, it is important to deliver accurate information to community members and parents. This panel discussion from experts will do just that.”

Middlebrooks said the presentation is appropriate for anyone who serves or cares for people with autism, including parents, educators, physicians and service providers.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration and coffee. The program runs from 9-10 a.m., and that will be followed by a question-and-answer segment from 10-10:30 a.m. The Citrus Club is located at 255 S. Orange Ave. in Orlando.
