Student Film Festival Highlighting Marine Science at Florida Tech Saturday, Jan. 24
MELBOURNE, FLA. — Fifteen short films touching on marine science and conservation made by K-12 students in the U.S. and Europe will be presented at the 2nd Annual Youth Making Ripples Film Festival Saturday, Jan. 24, at Gleason Performing Arts Center on the campus of Florida Institute of Technology.
The event is free and open to the public.
Doors open at 5 p.m., with refreshments, interactive demonstrations, research posters and vendors. The films, which represent finalists chosen from more than 100 entries, will be shown from 6-7 p.m.
“The festival and the film competition are designed to get students engaged in science, particularly marine science, and to highlight the importance of conservation,” said Philip Gravinese, a marine biology doctoral student at Florida Tech and co-founder of the film festival.
