Departing Florida Tech Resident Artist to Also Celebrate New CD

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Concluding his year-long residency at Florida Institute of Technology, pianist and composer Paul Anquez will hold his farewell concert at 7 p.m. April 24 in the Gleason Performing Arts Center.

Anquez will be joined by five Florida Tech student ensembles: Concert Choir, Concert Band, String Orchestra, Jazz Big Band and String Quintet.

The event will also mark the release of Anquez’s latest CD, Rivers, featuring vocalist Isabel Sörling. The album, recorded this spring at university radio station WFIT’s state-of-the-art recording studio, is available for $10 with a pre-order discount by calling 321-674-8082. It will also be available for purchase for $15 after the concert.

Proceeds from album sales will support the Florida Tech Music Program.

An accomplished jazz pianist, composer and conductor, Anquez began his musical instruction with the Calais Conservatoire in France, where he studied classical piano, jazz, electro-acoustic music and voice. He then pursued his studies at the Musicology Department of the Sorbonne University and at the Paris Conservatory.

As a music resident at Florida Tech, Anquez highlighted traditional repertoire from different cultures through a variety of approaches and settings and helped illuminate links between these repertoires and contemporary improvisation.

More information on Friday’s concert is available by calling 321-674-8082.
