Florida Tech’s Arrasmith Writes Book on Electro-Optical, Infrared Systems Engineering
MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology professor William W. Arrasmith has written a new book, “Systems Engineering and Analysis of Electro-Optical and Infrared Systems.”
In the book, Arrasmith, who teaches in the Department of Engineering Systems in the university’s College of Engineering, describes how to apply modern-day systems engineering principles, methods, tools and techniques to develop and analyze complex optical systems.
An applications-oriented running case study with a fictitious optical systems development company – Fantastic Imaging Technologies, or FIT – is used to integrate the systems engineering and optical systems content and illustrate how high-level systems engineering principles and methods are used to drive the development of modern day optical systems.
“Arrasmith weaves together the essential elements of systems engineering with a focus on the technical performance of optical systems to provide a comprehensive study of these disciplines,” notes Wade H.
