Wood Named Florida Tech Senior Vice President for Financial Affairs and Chief Financial Officer

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology President and CEO Anthony J. Catanese has announced the appointment of Cathy Wood as senior vice president for financial affairs and chief financial officer. Wood begins work Aug. 15.

Wood comes to Florida Tech from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where she was most recently vice president for finance and treasurer. She has more than 20 years of experience in financial and accounting management, financial planning, budgeting and reporting, treasury, investments and oversights of multiple audits.

“Ms. Wood has an excellent blend of experience and expertise that will be of great value to Florida Tech,” Catanese said. “I’m pleased to welcome her to our team.”

Previously, Wood was the assistant vice president for finance and served as director for financial services at MedStar Health, Inc. She also was the director of financial planning at MICROS Systems, Inc. Her earlier career including positions as controller, manager of financial systems and staff accountant.

“I am thrilled to be joining Florida Tech,” Wood said. “I look forward to working with the President, the Board of Trustees, the deans, members of the faculty and staff to continue to build a strong and sustainable future for the university and its students.”

Wood received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Geneva College in Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Maryland. She holds a professional certificate from the Executive Development Institute at Georgetown University.
