Florida Tech Names Gary Grant Vice President for Development

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology President Dwayne McCay has announced the appointment of Gary B. Grant as vice president for development and chief development officer.  Grant will join Florida Tech June 1 to help lead fundraising efforts for the university.

“Gary’s experience and perspective on fundraising are excellent matches for Florida Tech,” McCay said. “We look forward to putting his expertise to work as we develop new plans for our philanthropy programs.”

Having served most recently as vice president for development and university relations at the University of Tampa, Grant has more than 30 years of experience in higher education advancement. Previous appointments have included service as vice president for college advancement at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland; vice president for institutional advancement at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas; director of major gifts at the National Alzheimer’s Association in Chicago, Illinois; and director of major gifts for the University of Chicago Medical Center. While at the University of Chicago, he was part of a successful, $500 million capital campaign, and in Texas, he raised $25 million to launch a new MD medical school.

Grant holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago and a Juris Doctor degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Kent College of Law. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1996.

Grant’s wife, Kerry, taught mathematics at the University of Chicago Laboratory High Schools for more than 10 years. Together they have three daughters, Alyann, Natalie and Holly.
