U.S. News Finds Florida Tech Tops for Attracting International Students

Global Diversity a Strength for Tier 1 University       

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology’s unparalleled global diversity is once again earning the university national recognition.

In a new list released this month, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Florida Tech as No. 1 among nearly 300 national universities for its attractiveness to international students in the 2016-17 academic year.

Florida Tech, with nearly one-third of students on its Melbourne campus representing 120 countries, was joined on the list by other leading universities, including Carnegie Mellon, Boston University and The New School in New York.

“When it comes to academics, engineering, business and management, and math and computer science are the three most popular fields of study among international students, according to the Institute of International Education, making schools that are strong in these areas more attractive,” the magazine reported in its newest U.S. News Short List.

This is the fourth straight year Florida Tech received recognition for its globally representative student body.

“A Florida Tech education involves learning in the classroom, of course, but it also involves learning beyond the classroom,” said Florida Tech President Dwayne McCay. “Having a campus rich with these cross-cultural opportunities created by our diverse student body only enhances the student experience and better prepares them to be successful global citizens.”
