Florida Tech Receives Women’s Choice Award

One of Just 300 Universities to Earn Designation

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology has been recognized with a 2018-19 Women’s Choice Award for America’s Best Colleges.

Florida Tech was one of just 300 colleges and universities nationwide among more than 1,500 eligible institutions to receive the distinction. Based on survey data collected from women as to what the most important characteristics are when recommending a college or university, the award is based on five criteria:

  • Reputation
  • Student to faculty ratio
  • Depth of education
  • Campus safety
  • 4-year graduation rates

The findings will be included in the 2018-19 edition of Her Guide to America’s Best Colleges, described as “the only comprehensive survey of higher-learning options compiled exclusively for women.”

The recognition is one of several accolades Florida Tech has received this year. It was recently named one of the nation’s Best Value Colleges by Forbes magazine. The university joined Harvard, Imperial College in London, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland and others in being included in the the 2018 RUR World University Ranking. And U.S. News & World Report in February ranked Florida Tech as No. 1 among nearly 300 national universities for its attractiveness to international students.
