PayScale 2018 Survey: Florida Tech Again Among Best for ROI

Only Florida School Ranked in
‘Best Value’ List for Engineering

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology is among the nation’s and Florida’s best universities for return on investment 20 years after graduation, according to the 2018 PayScale College ROI Report.

With a 20-year net ROI for graduates of $510,000, Florida Tech was in the top two among all Florida universities and the top 8 percent of the more than 1,460 colleges and universities nationwide in the annual report from PayScale, a respected provider of cloud compensation software.

“Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne consistently lands high on our list of best value colleges in Florida,” PayScale said in comments included with its “Best Value in Florida” list. “Students who enroll…can earn undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of subjects, including science, psychology and liberal arts, engineering, business and aeronautics. The institute also provides opportunities to learn online and in off-campus programs. However, the school is most well-known for its STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs, and that is part of the reason why Florida Tech offers one of the highest returns on investment Florida has to offer.”

Florida Tech was among the top two ROI private schools in the state of Florida and in the top 6 percent among the 922 private schools included in the national survey. It was the only Florida school ranked in PayScale’s Best Value Engineering Schools list.

Florida Tech also fared well in 20-year ROI for students who enter technology careers after graduation at $674,000. That was tops among Florida schools and in the top 16 percent nationwide.

“The top engineering schools tend to be highly competitive, but earning a degree from one means you’ll be in high demand and command an equally high salary,” PayScale said. “With a STEM degree or other degree from a respected engineering school, a student can go on to enjoy a successful career in many fields, the survey found.”
